Run a MeshCore room server (a mini BBS)
A room server works like a small bulletin board. It stores posts, and when someone logs in it sends them up to the 32 most recent messages they haven’t seen. That’s useful for people who move in and out of range.
The MeshCore FAQ recommends running a room server on its own device, separate from any repeater.
1. Flash and connect
Section titled “1. Flash and connect”Flash Room server firmware with flasher.meshcore.io, then connect with config.meshcore.io.
2. Secure it
Section titled “2. Secure it”password <a-strong-admin-password>set guest.password <a-guest-password>set name <AZ-Phoenix-Chat>set radio <freq>,<bw>,<sf>,<cr>reboot- The default admin password is
password. - The default guest password (what users enter to join) is
hello. Change it, or share the new one only with the people you want in.
3. Optional: let it repeat
Section titled “3. Optional: let it repeat”A room server can also relay traffic with set repeat on. Check get repeat to see the current setting. Usually it’s better to leave relaying to dedicated repeaters.
4. Tell people about it
Section titled “4. Tell people about it”Share the room’s name and guest password with your group. In the MeshCore app, users add the room server and log in to see the backlog.
