Flash Meshtastic with the web flasher (ESP32)

BeginnerMeshtasticAbout 10 minutes

You'll need

  • An ESP32-based radio with its antenna attached
  • A USB data cable
  • Chrome or Edge on a computer
  1. Plug in the radio with a USB data cable. If your computer doesn’t see it, see Install USB drivers.
  2. Open flasher.meshtastic.org in Chrome or Edge. The flasher needs one of those browsers.
  3. Pick your device from the list. Choose the exact model and version (for example, Heltec V3 versus V4), since they need different firmware.
  4. Pick a firmware version. The latest stable release is the safe choice.
  5. Flash. Follow the prompts and select your radio’s serial port when the browser asks. If you’re installing for the first time or switching from MeshCore, choose the option to erase the device first.
  6. Wait for it to finish and reboot. Don’t unplug it mid-flash.

If the flasher can’t connect, many ESP32 boards have a BOOT button: hold it while plugging in or pressing reset to force download mode, then try again.
