Flash Meshtastic on nRF52 boards

You'll need

• An nRF52-based radio with its antenna attached
• A USB data cable
• A computer

nRF52 boards act like a USB drive when they’re in bootloader mode. You flash them by copying one file.

Easiest: the web flasher

flasher.meshtastic.org also works for nRF52 boards. It downloads the right file and walks you through copying it.

By hand

1. Download the latest firmware from the Meshtastic downloads page and unzip it.
2. Plug in the radio by USB.
3. Enter bootloader mode. On most devices, double-press the reset button. A new drive appears on your computer.
4. Check the drive. It should contain CURRENT.UF2, INDEX.HTM and INFO_UF2.TXT.
5. Copy the file named firmware-<your-device>-<version>.uf2 onto the drive. Pick the file that matches your exact board.
6. The radio reboots and installs the firmware when the copy finishes.

Stuck in a crash loop?

If the radio keeps rebooting after an upgrade from an older version, do a full factory erase first (Meshtastic’s “nRF52 erase” page has the file), then copy the firmware again.
