First setup in the MeshCore app

BeginnerMeshCoreAbout 15 minutes

You'll need

  • A radio with MeshCore companion firmware
  • The MeshCore app (Android
  • iOS
  • Windows or Mac) or the web app

Get the MeshCore app from Google Play or the App Store (Windows and Mac versions are also available), or use the web app at app.meshcore.nz in Chrome or Edge.

Make sure your radio has companion firmware (Bluetooth for a phone, USB for a computer). Open the app and connect to the radio. The app’s Quick Start Guide shows each screen.

Choose a radio preset in the app. For the US, MeshCore’s recommended preset is USA/Canada (Recommended): 910.525 MHz, 62.5 kHz bandwidth, SF7, CR5. If your local network uses something else, match them. In Arizona, ask in the AZCOREMSH Discord.

Set your name, then tap Advert. Your companion only advertises when you ask it to, which keeps the airwaves quiet. Repeaters nearby will pass your advert along so others can add you.

People and repeaters you hear show up in the app. Add a contact and send a message. The first message floods through repeaters; after the reply comes back, the app remembers the path and uses it for later messages.
